QES Snow Closure - Tuesday, 5 January 2010
We apologise to those of you who had difficult accessing our website this morning. The service WAS running but unusually high demand meant that many of you couldn't get onto it straight away.
All four of our local radio stations: Lakeland, The Bay, BBC Cumbria and BBC Lancashire were broadcasting the information about the closure from about 7.15 this morning and the BBC Local News websites had the information about school closures clearly displayed too which was helpful.
We won't be able to make a decision about opening tomorrow until the bus companies contact us in the early hours with their assessment of the road conditions. We will contact the radio stations immediately as we did today and place a message on our website again if we are closing.
If you can't access the website then listen to the local radio or go to the BBC local news websites which can cope with huge numbers of hits of course.
Pupils and staff are coming to us from a 900 square mile radius: by all means make your own decisions about whether it's safe to travel in from where you are if school does open. The main bus routes could be fine but outlying areas could still be badly affected. We will understand!
