A Series of Public Information Campaigns On Local Issues

Wind Farm

Coming near Kirkby?

The students who made this report would like to thank everyone who agreed to be interviewed on Kirkby High Street as well as Phil Dale of Landscape First

Did you know that energy company e-on is planning to build nine wind turbines at Longfield tarn site near Kirkby Lonsdale?

They believe that it will help reduce the risk of climate change. However, there is a local pressure group called Landscape First! who are opposed to this. They think that the wind turbines would ruin the landscape near Kirkby Lonsdale which is important and needs to be preserved.

Looks like this is an issue that divides opinion!

So to help local people understand this issue better a group of students on the Creative & Media Diploma have worked with Indigo 106.6fm radio station in Kirkby Lonsdale and produced an audio campaign informing local people of e-on’s plans and the views of the pressure group and local people.

Please use the links on the right to listen to the package, get More Info and give your feedback via a two-minute survey.
